The Mayor of Kismayo and Chairman of Kismayo District, Omar Abdullahi Mohamed, has conducted an inspection of a large-scale sanitation campaign currently underway across the city’s neighborhoods.
The clean-up initiative focuses on the rehabilitation and clearing of drainage channels, waste collection, and the improvement of the city’s overall appearance, with the aim of creating a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally friendly urban environment.
During his tour, Mayor Omar observed the ongoing sanitation activities in various parts of the city and commended both the workers and community members actively participating in the campaign. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining cleanliness and protecting public health.
The Kismayo District Administration also called on residents to play an active role in preserving the city’s cleanliness, particularly by refraining from dumping waste into drainage systems. Officials noted that keeping drainage channels free of garbage is essential for ensuring the smooth flow of water and preventing flooding and water stagnation during rainy periods.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining environmental sanitation efforts and urged the public to continue supporting initiatives aimed at enhancing the beauty, cleanliness, and livability of Kismayo.
