
The District Commissioner of Luuq, Dahir Mohamed Nur, today officially inaugurated the new road leading to the Xerokoobaad neighborhood, located on the west side of the town.
The opening ceremony was attended by key officials, including Osman Hassan Abdi, Coordinator for the Somalia Crisis Recovery Project (SCRP) at the Jubbaland Ministry of Planning, Liban Mohamed, SCRP Project Engineer at the Federal Ministry of Finance and Adan Hilowle Adan, Coordinator for the Jubbaland Ministry of Public Works and Housing in the Gedo Region.
The newly constructed, modern road is a significant part of ongoing efforts to enhance essential infrastructure and community connectivity. It is expected to greatly improve social services and contribute to the growth of commerce in the town.
The road’s construction was financed by the World Bank and jointly implemented by the Federal Ministries of Finance and Planning, along with the Jubbaland Ministry of Planning, Investment, and International Cooperation.
The road project is among several initiatives where the government and international partners are collaborating to reconstruct areas affected by crises. They highlighted that the road will bring a significant positive change to the lives of the residents in Luuq District and the surrounding areas.
Luuq district commissioner, Dahir Mohamed Nur extended his gratitude to everyone who played a role in the construction of the road, especially the World Bank for funding the project, and the Federal and Jubbaland Ministries of Planning and Finance for their collaborative implementation efforts.
