
Police forces in Dhobley, Lower Jubba region, have successfully intercepted an illegally hunted giraffe, apprehending the individuals responsible for the unlawful killing of the protected animal.
The arrests were made during security operations targeting wildlife traffickers who have been engaged in the illegal trade of bushmeat. During the operation, officers seized the carcass of the giraffe, along with the suspects transporting it.
In a public display aimed at deterring future violations, Dhobley police burned the confiscated giraffe meat in the town square, underscoring their commitment to enforcing wildlife protection laws.
Police officials in Dhobley confirmed that the suspects will be brought before the law, issuing a stern warning to anyone involved in poaching or trading wildlife products.
The Jubbaland administration has officially banned the hunting of wildlife across its territories, and Dhobley frequently conducts operations to crack down on the illegal killing and trading of protected animals.
