
The President of the Jubaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, on Thursday chaired the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, with discussions centered on national security, tax system reforms, key infrastructure projects, and the overall political situation in the country.
The meeting opened with a briefing from the Ministry of Internal Security, which presented an update on the security situation across Jubaland.
The ministry highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen security operations carried out by Jubaland forces, noting that significant and tangible gains have been achieved in recent weeks.
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development briefed the Cabinet on reforms underway in the tax system. The proposed reforms aim to harmonize tax procedures and enhance transparency and efficiency in revenue collection, as part of broader efforts to improve public financial management.
The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources reported on the progress of major development initiatives, including the Kismayo water supply project and a solar energy project. According to the ministry, implementation of both projects is progressing smoothly and is expected to significantly improve access to clean water and renewable energy.
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare presented an overview of the current state of healthcare services in Jubaland. The briefing covered outcomes of the recent Jubaland Health Investment Conference, as well as the rollout of a hospital reimbursement system aimed at strengthening service delivery across public health facilities.
Lastly, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management updated the Council of Ministers on the ongoing drought situation, the impact of recent rainfall, and preparedness measures for potential emergencies. The ministry emphasized the importance of early response and coordination to mitigate humanitarian risks.
The Cabinet reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security, improving public services, and advancing sustainable development across Jubbaland.
