The Minister of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights of Jubaland, Cadar Ismael, today held a high-level meeting with Dr. Rukaya Mohammed, the Head of UN Women Somalia, to discuss strengthening collaboration on advancing women’s rights and empowerment in the region.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry, along with senior officials and staff from the Ministry of Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights.
Discussions focused on deepening the partnership between the Ministry and UN Women, with particular emphasis on enhancing monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems to track progress more effectively.
Both sides underscored the importance of joint efforts in data collection, analysis, and utilization related to women’s issues.
The Minister highlighted the need for reliable, evidence-based data to accurately measure progress and inform policies aimed at improving the status of Somali women.
In turn, UN Women reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Ministry through technical assistance and capacity building to strengthen institutional systems.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to work collaboratively to ensure that women’s advancement initiatives in Jubaland are measurable, impactful, and aligned with national and international gender equality frameworks.
