The 3rd Battalion of the Jubbaland Darawish Forces, based in Elwaq district of Gedo region, successfully thwarted a landmine attack on Monday that was intended to harm innocent civilians.
Security agencies, acting on credible intelligence about the plot, moved swiftly to neutralize the explosive device. Their timely intervention prevented what could have been a deadly incident and safeguarded fasting residents during the holy month of Ramadan.
Following the discovery, Jubbaland forces launched targeted clearance operations across Elwaq. These efforts have significantly disrupted attempts by extremist militants to carry out bombings and destabilize the area.
Authorities say security operations have now been intensified throughout Ramadan to counter ongoing threats posed by the militants and to ensure the safety of the local population.
