The President of Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, on Tuesday chaired a joint consultative meeting bringing together members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament representing Jubbaland and the Jubaland Council of Ministers. The session focused on a deep and comprehensive review of the country’s evolving political landscape and the ongoing one‑sided push to amend the previously agreed‑upon Provisional Constitution.

Discussions centered on strengthening internal consultations, preserving Jubbaland’s unified political stance, and upholding the agreements and procedural frameworks that have historically guided constitutional amendment processes in Somalia.

Leaders emphasized that any changes to the Provisional Constitution must emerge from broad consensus, inclusive dialogue, and full adherence to established agreements, ensuring that all stakeholders are part of the decision‑making process.

The meeting underscored Jubbaland’s commitment to constructive engagement and safeguarding the principles of cooperation and mutual understanding as Somalia navigates this critical phase of its state‑building journey.
