In a sweeping military operation, forces from the Jubbaland State Government and the Somali National Army have successfully conducted a large-scale offensive across several villages in the Jamaame district of Lower Jubba region. The targeted areas included Yiireey, Malaalyleey, Janaal-jaay and Muuse Xaaji locations previously exploited by terrorist groups as hideouts and operational bases.

The ground offensive, described as a “clearance operation,” led to the destruction of all underground bunkers used by the militants for concealment and ambushes. The operation was bolstered by international partners who provided aerial support, delivering precision airstrikes against key terrorist positions.

According to military officials leading the mission, the coordinated strikes resulted in the elimination of 20 insurgents, including senior commanders and armed fighters affiliated with the extremist group. The successful campaign marks a significant blow to the militants’ presence in the region and reinforces the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in southern Somalia.
