A high-level meeting focused on enhancing airport security was held today at the Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Hassan International Airport in Kismayo. The strategic gathering brought together key officials and aviation experts to discuss safety protocols and operational efficiency across Jubaland’s airports.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Jubaland, Mohamed Abdi Salad, and attended by the Ministry’s Director General, Sacid Abdullahi Macalin, Airport Security Chief Mohamed Hayi Bader, and representatives from various departments within the ministry.

Notably, aviation security specialists from the Somali Civil Aviation Authority participated in the session. Their role includes conducting thorough inspections and assessments of airport security procedures, as well as streamlining travel operations.

This initiative is part of Somalia’s broader preparations for the upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit, which will evaluate the country’s compliance with global aviation safety standards.

In addition to assessments, the experts will deliver specialized training on civil aviation security, ensuring that Somalia’s airport systems align with both national regulations and international benchmarks.
