Jubbaland Unveils Ambitious 2025–2029 Development Plan in Grand Ceremony

The Speaker of the Jubbaland House of Representatives and Acting President, Sheikh Abdi Mohamed Abdirahman, officially launched the Jubbaland Government Development Plan for 2025–2029 in a high-profile ceremony held in Kismayo.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, brought together a wide array of dignitaries and stakeholders. Among the attendees were MP Abdirashid Xidig of the Federal Parliament, members of both Jubaland legislative and executive branches, directors of various ministries, the Mayor of Kismayo, civil society organizations, business leaders, traditional elders, representatives of humanitarian agencies operating in Jubaland, and other distinguished guests.

In his keynote address, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed, emphasized that the new development plan marks a significant departure from previous strategies. He highlighted that the plan was developed through an inclusive process that fully engaged the people of Jubaland. The Minister also noted that the plan introduces a new framework for engaging donors and international partners supporting Somalia’s state-building efforts.

MP Abdirashid Xidig, speaking at the event, urged Jubaland’s business community to prioritize local production and invest in domestic industries rather than channeling capital abroad.

The ceremony concluded with the official inauguration of the five-year development roadmap by the Acting President, setting the stage for a transformative era in Jubaland’s governance and economic growth.
