The Ministry of Health and Social Care of the Jubaland State Government officially launched a two-day refresher training workshop in Kismayo, aimed at enhancing the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) system.
The opening ceremony was attended by key health officials including Dr. Mohamed Shaciye, Director of Emergency Health Services, and Dr. Mohamed Bashir, Director of Family Health. Also present were senior representatives from the Jubaland Ministry of Health, delegates from the Federal Ministry of Health of Somalia, and officials from the World Health Organization (WHO).
The training targets healthcare workers from all districts within the Lower Juba region. Its primary goal is to build the capacity of frontline health staff in timely detection, reporting, and response to epidemic-prone diseases. By strengthening these skills, the Ministry aims to improve rapid response capabilities and prevent potential outbreaks.
With support from both international and local partners, the Jubbaland Ministry of Health is committed to advancing its disease surveillance infrastructure. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure timely, effective, and life-saving health services for the people of Jubaland, while mitigating the risks posed by deadly infectious diseases.
