The President of the Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has presented various awards to students who won first places in the Holy Quran Recitation Competition following a ceremony held at the Daawad Hall in Kismayo.
The award ceremony was attended by the President of the Jubbaland State, Jubbaland Parliament members, scholars, traditional elders, teachers, parents, students and sections of the community.
The President of the Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has commended the parents and teachers of the students for their efforts in teaching and nurturing students who will be greatly useful to the community.
Abdirisaq Mohamed Abdi became the first-place student among the students who competed in the 30 -Juz of the Holy Quran. He was awarded a car as a prize by the Jubbaland President.
While the 2nd and 3rd place winners of the 30-Juz of the Holy Quran were also awarded a car by the President.
The President of the Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam personally awarded a car to a girl from the Baardheere District of the Gedo Region who was among the quran competitors.
Quran competitions are held annually to recognize the talent of young Quran memorizers. The competitions also promote Islamic values and unity in the Somali community.
