Speaking to Radio Kismayo, Barsanguni Village Chairman, Hussein Ahmed Osman said there are fears of the Jubba river bursting its banks and causing flooding in the area following heavy rains currently being witnessed in the area.
The Village chairman said that the Jubbaland Ministry of Agriculture has recently visited the area and inspected the possible areas where the river flooding is likely to affect which included 6 areas, key among them farm plantations for the locals.
He said the Agriculture ministry and residents have agreed to take a consultative approach to prevent river flooding during such a time when lots of crops and plantation are usually being destroyed by the flood waters.
He called on Aid agencies and agricultural stakeholders to pay special attention to the flooding fears.
Barsanguni is one of the areas whose locals population are known for Agriculture activities and has been severally hit hard by floods in recent years.
