The Jubbaland Ministry of Livestock, has officially hosted an event in Kismayo aimed at supporting the growth and development of the dairy business sector, with a particular focus on women engaged in milk production and marketing.
The event brought together the Deputy Minister of the Jubbaland Ministry of Livestock, the Ministry’s Director General, the Director of the Animal Health Services Department, and representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Livestock.
The initiative was organized to strengthen the role of women in the dairy value chain, enhance milk production and quality, and support women who rely on dairy businesses as a source of income. The program seeks to create sustainable economic opportunities for women while contributing to the overall development of the livestock sector.
Speaking during the event, officials highlighted the vital contribution of women to the dairy industry and emphasized the importance of investing in their skills, productivity, and access to economic opportunities. They noted that improving milk quality and expanding market opportunities can significantly enhance livelihoods and food security within local communities.
The Jubbaland Ministry of Livestock, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing livestock production, improving animal health services, and expanding economic opportunities for communities dependent on livestock-based livelihoods. The Ministry emphasized that empowering women and supporting livestock-related businesses remain key priorities in its broader strategy for sustainable economic growth and rural development across Jubbaland.
