The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of Jubbaland, Abdirahman Mohamed Mahmoud (Dhiriq), together with the Deputy Chairperson of the Jubbaland Refugee and IDP Agency and senior ministry officials, today received the Head of the FAO Somalia office in Kismayo.
The meeting focused on the worsening drought situation that has severely affected pastoralist and farming communities across Jubbaland—particularly vulnerable households and internally displaced families.
During the discussions, the Ministry presented the latest assessment reports, outlining the current severity of the drought, its humanitarian impact, and the most pressing emergency needs on the ground.
Following the meeting, the Minister and the FAO delegation conducted a field visit to displacement camps in the Dalxiiska neighborhood of Kismayo. The delegation witnessed firsthand the dire living conditions of families who were recently displaced by drought, observing the urgent humanitarian support required to alleviate their suffering.
