An emergency meeting was convened today at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management office in Jubbaland State to address alarming weather forecasts predicting heavy rainfall and potential flooding in parts of the region, particularly Badhaadhe district in Lower Jubba region of Somalia.
The emergency meeting, chaired by the Jubbaland Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, brought together the Minister of Interior, the Director General of the Ministry, representatives from international organizations and officials from various government agencies.
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on preparedness measures to mitigate the anticipated negative impacts of the torrential rains and possible severe flooding. The session focused on strategies to protect vulnerable communities and ensure a swift, coordinated response to any emergencies that may arise.
This meeting is part of Jubbaland’s ongoing efforts to strengthen disaster prevention and enhance readiness for emergencies that could affect coastal and flood-prone areas. The government reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding residents and minimizing the risks posed by extreme weather events.
