The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of the Jubbaland State Government has issued a serious weather warning, cautioning residents about imminent torrential rains expected to hit parts of the coastal regions.
According to the ministry, the heavy downpours could trigger flash floods, posing significant risks to both lives and property. Communities living in flood-prone areas and near waterways are strongly advised to exercise caution and relocate to safer grounds if necessary.
Speaking to Radio Kismayo, Director of the Meteorological Department, Abdiqani Ahmed Jama confirmed that the rains are anticipated to begin within the coming hours and days. He urged the public and relevant agencies to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to mitigate potential damage.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and advise everyone to stay informed through official channels,” Mr. Jaamac emphasized.
The Ministry has also called on humanitarian organizations and emergency response teams to prepare for possible interventions should the situation escalate.
