Hir-Shabelle state receives $ 1.1 million flood mitigation project

The Somali Minister for Planning, Jamal Mohamed Hassan, accompanied by the Director of Sustainable Solutions Ms. Zahra Abdi Mohamed, Head of the Somali Partnership, Asad Yusuf, met with the Hir-Shabelle state Minister for Planning and the Head of NIS-Somalia to discuss flood mitigation projects in Hirshabelle regional state of Somalia.

The Somali Minister for Planning has handed over the flood mitigation project to the Hir-Shabelle Minister for Planning which aims to find a lasting solution to the recurring floods in Beledweyne and other areas of the administration.

The project worth $ 1.1 million was donated by the Government of Norway to Somalia, implemented by the NIS Foundation.

The Somali Ministry of National Planning is working to find a lasting solution to the recurring floods in Hirshabelle state, which have affected the population.
