Somali Prime Minister meets with the Somali delegation from the ICJ court case ruling at the Hague

The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mohamed Hussein Roble yesterday met with the Federal Government of Somalia delegation that attended the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Hague during its ruling on Somalia and Kenya sea delimitation case.

“First of all, I would like to welcome the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). It has become a historic decision. I also want to congratulate you. On behalf of the people of Somalia, I would like to express my gratitude,” Prime Minister Roble said.

The Somali premier also thanked the people of Somalia for their contribution to the success of the maritime dispute case.

He also sent his condolences to the late Eng. Salaxi who played a critical role in the maritime dispute case as well as Muna Sharmaan for her role in initiating the case.

“I would also like to thank the previous government of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was the father of the case at the International Court of Justice in The Hague. President Farmajo also played a pivotal role in the case. I also want to thank the TFG led by President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and his Parliament, which has really played a key role in this process. We would also like to thank all those who took part, including Minister Fawzia Haji Aden. ” Said Prime Minister Roble.

The top U.N. top court ruled on Tuesday largely in favour of Somalia in its dispute with Kenya, setting a sea boundary in part of the Indian Ocean believed to be rich in oil and gas.
