The President of the Jubaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, has stated that drought and livestock diseases in parts of Jubaland are affecting pastoralists and farmers in many parts of Jubaland state, endangering the lives of people and animals.
The Jubbaland state President pointed out that the drought situation currently ravaging parts of the Jubaland state is in need of international and emergency aid assistance due to its severity.
He called on all aid agencies to come to the aid of the people and respond to the ravaging drought situation.
The President said that the Jubbaland Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management is currently making efforts to address the current situation.
He added that the assessment findings of the Jubbaland Ministry Relief and Disaster Management so far indicates the need for international assistance to address the impact of the current drought.
A total of 34,000 livestock, including camels, cows and donkeys, were said to have died in this ravaging drought, according to the Jubbaland Minister for Livestock, Mohamed Noor Ali.
