The Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Jubbaland State Government has conducted a capacity-building training programme in Kismayo for selected staff members of the Kismayo district local Government.
The training, designed to strengthen the knowledge and professional skills of municipal personnel, was officially inaugurated by the Director General of the Jubbaland Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Abdiwahid Mohamed Dakane.
The programme specifically targeted data collectors who will be responsible for gathering information and registering all businesses operating across Kismayo district. The initiative aims to establish a comprehensive and reliable database of the district’s business community and commercial establishments.
Participants received training on data collection methodologies, registration procedures, and best practices to ensure accurate and efficient documentation of business enterprises throughout the district.
The business mapping and registration exercise will focus on identifying and documenting all commercial establishments within Kismayo district, providing local authorities with up-to-date information to support planning, governance, and service delivery.
The data collection and registration campaign is scheduled to run for seven days and is being jointly implemented by the Jubbaland Ministry of Interior and UN-Habitat.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen local governance, improve the quality and availability of business data, and enhance municipal services in Kismayo, contributing to more effective administration and sustainable urban development across the district.
