Kismayo Municipality Launches Road Opening Project in Waaberi Neighborhood

The Kismayo Municipality has commenced the opening of roads passing through the Waaberi neighborhood in Tayo area, commonly known as Obasiib, in a move aimed at enhancing urban development, improving security, and beautifying the area.

Speaking during the launch of the road-opening exercise, Kismayo District Commissioner, Omar Abdullahi Faraweyne said the municipality is accelerating its efforts to reopen blocked roads and address improperly constructed structures that hinder public movement and accessibility.

The Commissioner emphasized that the initiative forms part of the local government’s broader urban planning agenda to improve transportation networks, facilitate the free movement of residents, and create a more organized city environment.

Residents have welcomed the project, noting that improved road access will contribute to better connectivity, strengthen security, and support the continued growth and development of the community.
