The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Jubbaland Government convened a high-level meeting aimed at enhancing coordination, accelerating implementation, and advancing the activities of the Rural Livelihoods Resilience Project (RLRP) across Jubbaland.
The meeting brought together key government leaders and development partners, including the Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Geelle Muhumed Aden; the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Irration, Ugaas Ali Adan Sokor; the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Aydid Suleiman Hashi; the Minister of Livestock, Forestry and Range, Mohamed Ali Nuurani; and the Director General of the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry and Range, Abdullahi Ali Farah.
During the session, the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Mohamed Mursal Hirsi, presented the Jubbaland Development Plan (SDP III) and outlined how RLRP interventions can be aligned with the government’s development priorities and long-term strategic goals.
Representatives from IFAD, the National Project Coordination Unit (NPCU), the State Project Coordination Unit (SPCU), and the RLRP team also attended the meeting. Discussions focused on the project’s progress, implementation status, existing challenges, and priorities for the next phase of delivery.
Participants explored ways to strengthen collaboration between the Jubbaland Government and development partners, while accelerating the implementation of RLRP activities to better address community needs and support the state’s broader development agenda.
The meeting underscored the importance of enhanced institutional coordination between Jubbaland authorities and IFAD in promoting sustainable livelihoods, strengthening rural resilience, boosting agricultural productivity, and improving food security across the region.
Officials noted that closer cooperation and effective implementation of the RLRP will play a vital role in supporting rural communities and advancing Jubbaland’s socio-economic development objectives.
