Somalia’s elite Danab Special Forces have commenced a series of successful airborne operations targeting Al-Shabaab militants, marking a significant escalation in efforts to dismantle insurgent networks across Jubaland region.
The operations, conducted using helicopter-borne assault capabilities, have enabled Danab Commandos to rapidly strike militant hideouts and suspected strongholds in remote and difficult-to-access areas.
Security officials say the new approach enhances the force’s mobility, precision, and ability to maintain sustained pressure on extremist elements.
According to military sources, Danab units will now carry out regular helicopter-supported missions across various locations where Al-Shabaab militants are believed to be operating.
The strategy is intended to disrupt the group’s movements, deny them safe havens, and strengthen security throughout the region.
Officials emphasized that militants will no longer be able to find secure refuge within Jubaland, as continuous operations are planned in areas suspected of harboring insurgent fighters.
