The Minister of Livestock of the Jubaland Government, Mohamed Noor Ali, held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), led by Dr. Kunoow Sheikh Abdi, FAO Somalia’s Livestock Programme Officer.
The meeting focused on the Ministry’s priority plans for improving and modernizing the livestock sector, with both sides discussing ways to further strengthen their partnership and enhance support for sustainable livestock development initiatives across Jubaland.
During the discussions, the Ministry and FAO reviewed ongoing and future areas of cooperation, including livestock development projects, animal disease prevention and control, climate change adaptation and mitigation measures, and efforts aimed at strengthening the resilience and livelihoods of pastoralist communities.
The Jubaland Ministry of Livestock and FAO have maintained a close working relationship in implementing programmes that promote animal health, increase livestock productivity, and improve the economic well-being of livestock-dependent households.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration and accelerate development programmes designed to boost livestock production, enhance food security, and improve the living standards of communities throughout Jubaland.
