The President of Jubaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam, has on Saturday officially launched the Bulsho Project, a major development initiative aimed at strengthening local governments, enhancing community participation, and fostering sustainable collaboration between citizens and public institutions.
The Bulsho Project is designed as a comprehensive platform to improve the delivery of essential services and accelerate local development by building stronger partnerships between government authorities and the communities they serve. It seeks to empower citizens while reinforcing the capacity of local administrations at the district, village, and neighborhood levels.
At its core, the initiative focuses on promoting inclusive participation, strengthening social cohesion, and enhancing community resilience. By encouraging active public engagement in decision-making processes and project implementation, the program aims to create a more responsive and accountable system of governance at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the launch, President Ahmed Mohamed Islam highlighted the timeliness of the initiative, noting the pressing need to reinforce community resilience and improve essential services across local areas. He described the Bulsho Project as a vital opportunity to advance district-level development while significantly increasing citizen involvement in both planning and executing development programs.
“The launch of the Bulsho Project comes at a critical moment when strengthening community resilience and improving local service delivery are more important than ever,” the President stated.
“This initiative provides a valuable platform to empower communities, enhance participation, and ensure that development efforts are both inclusive and sustainable.”
The President also expressed his sincere appreciation to the World Bank and the Jubaland Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation for their pivotal roles in the funding, planning, and implementation of the project. He commended their continued commitment to supporting governance, improving public services, and building the institutional capacity of local authorities.
Furthermore, President Ahmed Islam underscored the importance of sustained support from development partners, emphasizing that strong collaboration is essential to achieving long-term progress. He noted that such partnerships play a crucial role in advancing sustainable development goals and strengthening government institutions at the local level.
