Jubbaland State security forces, supported by the elite Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army, have successfully carried out a planned security operation in the Hanjaleeley area, located approximately 50 km northeast of Afmadow in Lower Jubba region.
The operation targeted members of the extremist Al-Shabaab Khawaarij militia who were preparing attacks aimed at destabilizing the region. Security officials confirmed that the troops disrupted an attempted plot to plant roadside improvised explosive devices designed to harm civilians and security personnel using routes in the area.
According to military sources, a brief exchange of gunfire took place during the raid. One militant was killed, while another was captured alive. In addition, the forces seized the motorcycles the suspects were using, along with explosive devices intended for attacks against civilians.
Jubbaland forces and the Danab Commandos praised the mission’s success, noting that it effectively neutralized a dangerous plot that threatened the security of the region. They emphasized that operations will continue until extremist elements are completely eliminated from Lower Jubba region.
