The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Jubaland, Ahmed Omar Hassan, accompanied by ministers, members of parliament, Kismayo District Mayor Omar Abdullahi Mohamed (Faraweyne), Kismayo Port Manager Ahmed Haji, and a team of engineers, carried out an inspection and assessment of a site earmarked for the construction of an artificial port dedicated to small fishing vessels.

The project aims to streamline fishing operations and boost productivity for local fishermen in Jubaland. During the visit, engineers and ministry officials agreed that the selected location is suitable for the development of the port, a proposal initially put forward by the Jubaland Fishermen’s Cooperative Committee.

The initiative, known as “Badmaal Project,” forms part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to enhance fisheries production and improve services for the fishing community across the region.
