The Ministry of Livestock, Forestry, and Range of the Jubaland State Government, in partnership with Alight, has successfully completed a 25-day livestock vaccination and treatment campaign in Afmadow district, Lower Jubba region.

The initiative extended to rural villages surrounding Afmadow, aiming to prevent infectious diseases and safeguard the health of livestock—a vital backbone of Somalia’s economy.

For decades, pastoral communities have relied heavily on livestock for their livelihoods. However, recurrent droughts have severely impacted animal health and survival, threatening the economic stability of many Somali households.

The Jubaland Ministry continues to intensify efforts to expand veterinary services, particularly in areas hardest hit by drought, ensuring sustainable livestock health and resilience across the region.
