
A delegation of senior Jubbaland government officials, including the Ministers of Planning, Agriculture, and Security, conducted an inspection tour today of a large-scale irrigation canal project being developed in the riverine areas of Yoontoy, Bula Bartire and Istanbul in Lower Jubba region.
The newly constructed canal is expected to significantly transform the lives of local communities by boosting agricultural productivity and stimulating economic growth. The initiative is part of Jubbaland’s broader strategy to enhance food security and promote sustainable development.
During the visit, the construction company overseeing the project presented a detailed progress report, outlining the various phases of the development and confirming that work is proceeding smoothly and on schedule.
Officials highlighted the canal’s potential to create employment opportunities, strengthen community resilience, and improve the connection between citizens and the government.
