Jubbaland Police Leadership Meets UN Delegation to Tackle Gender-Based Violence

The General Headquarters of the Jubbaland Police Force today hosted a pivotal meeting between the Acting Commander of the Lower Jubba Regional Police and Head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Captain Omar Hujale Abdi and representatives from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), specifically from the Human Rights and Women Protection Division.

The high-level discussion focused on the ongoing challenges and collaborative efforts aimed at strengthening accountability for gender-based violence (GBV) within the region.

During the productive session, both parties exchanged insights and recommendations on how to enhance joint strategies to combat GBV. They reached a mutual understanding on the importance of reinforcing cooperation and coordination to address gender-related violence affecting communities.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in aligning law enforcement efforts with international human rights standards, particularly in safeguarding women and vulnerable groups from abuse.
