The Director General of the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Jubbaland State Government, Sacid Abdullaahi Macalin, today chaired the first official meeting of the Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Airport Security Committee in Kismayo.
The meeting, held at the airport premises, brought together key stakeholders including the Airport Security Commander, the Director of Immigration and Nationality, the Head of the Civil Aviation Department, the Acting Airport Manager, the Chairman of Airline Operators, the Head of Customs at the Airport, the Director of the Transport Department and the representative of Safari Aviation Services (SAS).
Discussions centered on the critical role of the committee in safeguarding airport security and improving operational coordination. Each participating agency outlined its responsibilities in ensuring the safety and efficiency of airport operations.
Mr. Macalin emphasized that airport security is a cornerstone of Jubbaland’s aviation development and economic growth.
“A secure airport is not just about safety—it’s about enabling progress, building trust, and supporting the region’s connectivity,” he stated.
The meeting marks a significant step toward strengthening inter-agency collaboration and enhancing the overall security framework of Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Airport.
