The Ministry of Health and Social Care of Jubbaland has officially launched a public awareness campaign to combat the spread of malaria, a disease that poses a heightened risk during the rainy season.

In an exclusive interview with Kismayo Radio, the Director of the Malaria Department, Mr. Abdiqadar Mohamed, announced that the ministry has begun educating communities about the dangers of malaria, particularly as seasonal rains create ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes.Vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women are especially at risk during this period.

Mr. Abdiqadar revealed that the Jubbaland Health ministry has developed a comprehensive plan to distribute mosquito prevention supplies, including treated bed nets and vaccines, to residents in seven districts across Jubbaland.

“We are prioritizing low-income families and ensuring they receive the necessary tools to protect themselves from mosquito bites,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging the public to heed the Health ministry’s guidance and take preventive measures seriously.

“We’ve trained dedicated teams to carry out regular inspections and deliver ongoing awareness sessions in local communities,” he added.

The campaign marks a proactive step by the Jubbaland government to reduce malaria infections and safeguard public health during the high-risk rainy season.
