The Acting President and Second Vice President of Jubaland, Abdiqadir Haji Mahmoud has today chaired the weekly Jubbaland meeting of the Cabinet in Kismayo.
The Cabinet commended the successful operations carried out by the Jubbaland Darawish Forces and the National Army over the past 48 hours in various regions, which resulted in significant defeats for the insurgents.
The Ministry of Internal Security shared detailed reports of these operations and the ongoing efforts by the Jubbaland Forces and the National Army to pursue the insurgents.
During the operations in the Barjala area of Lower Jubba, located 68 km north of Afmadow, the forces eliminated over 48 insurgents and captured two members alive while seizing cache of weapons.
The insurgents had created hideouts in the wilderness, but intelligence gathered by the forces enabled close monitoring of their movements.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the Relief Protection Act, presented by the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
