Areas and districts in Lower Jubba and Gedo regions are reported to be experiencing severe drought that has affected people and animals as well.
Reports indicate that in some districts many livestock have died due to thirst and many pastoralists are facing widespread water shortages.
Some people are said to have left their livestock behind in search of water.
A member of the Jubbaland parliament from Gedo region, Shire Abdi Mohamed, said a severe drought has taken a heavy toll on both human and livestock and urgent intervention was needed to aid the people and animals in lower Jubba and Gedo regions.
