The Deputy Minister of Planning, Investment and International Cooperation of the Jubbaland State Government, Farah Mukhtar Daud, held a consultative meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters with representatives from the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), and other international organizations operating in Jubbaland.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the Jubbaland Government and development and humanitarian partners, with particular emphasis on addressing community needs and priorities while accelerating the implementation of key development initiatives across Jubbaland.
During the discussions, partner organizations shared updates on their ongoing programs and future plans in the region. The exchange came at a time when declining international funding has affected some humanitarian and development activities, prompting the need for closer coordination and more strategic allocation of available resources.
Deputy Minister Farah Mukhtar Daud also briefed the agencies on the Jubbaland Government’s plans to maximize the use of local resources and opportunities available across the state. He underscored the importance of effective coordination among development partners to avoid duplication of projects and ensure that interventions deliver greater impact for local communities.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to enhance collaboration and coordination among all stakeholders.
Participants agreed that international support and donor funding should be directed toward projects that align with the Government’s development priorities and respond to the genuine needs of the people of Jubbaland.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Deputy Minister highlighted the key issues discussed and welcomed the outcomes reached, describing the engagement as an important step toward advancing sustainable development and improving coordination between the government and its development partners.
