In a significant step toward improving public health and environmental sanitation, the Director of the Department of Public Health at the Jubaland Ministry of Health and Social Care, Abshir Yusuf, conducted a working visit to Luglow and surrounding communities north of Kismayo.
The field visit was joined by representatives from the German humanitarian organization Arche noVa, the Head of Environmental Health at the Ministry of Health, Mohamed Khirey, and the Lower Jubba Regional Health Coordinator, Abdirizak Jamaus.
The mission focused on assessing the progress and impact of the ongoing community-driven sanitation, hygiene, and waste management project, which was previously launched through a partnership between the Ministry of Health and local communities in the area.
Following site inspections and a comprehensive evaluation of project activities, stakeholders agreed on the need to further strengthen and expand the initiative to maximize its benefits for local residents.
In a promising development, Arche noVa pledged additional support and collaboration to enhance the project’s implementation, ensuring sustainable results and reinforcing community ownership.
The organization’s commitment is expected to help transform sanitation and waste management services while improving public health outcomes across the targeted communities.
The strengthened partnership reflects a shared commitment by the Jubaland Ministry of Health, development partners, and local communities to build cleaner, healthier, and more resilient environments for future generations.
