A planned security operation carried out today by the Jubaland State Darawiish Forces in the Qumbi area successfully thwarted an attempt by members of the Khawarij terrorist group to plant a landmine on a road frequently used by civilians.
According to security officials, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports indicating that the militants were preparing to carry out the attack.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, Jubaland forces moved into the area and engaged the suspects before they could execute their plan.
The operation resulted in the seizure of the landmines the militants were carrying, preventing what could have posed a serious threat to the safety of local residents and travelers using the route.
