The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Jubaland State Government has officially inaugurated a newly constructed water infrastructure project in Dalsan Village, Balad Hawo District, marking a significant step toward improving access to safe and reliable water for local communities.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by the Ministry’s Balad Hawo District Coordinator, Abdikadir Abdirahman (Cagey), and Eng. Daud Ali Same, alongside community members and local stakeholders.
During the event, the officials formally handed over the water facility to the residents of Dalsan Village and urged the community to take collective responsibility for protecting and maintaining the vital resource to ensure its long-term sustainability.
The newly completed water project has a storage capacity of more than 13,200 cubic metres of water and has been equipped with all essential components of a modern water supply system. These include a main water reservoir, watchman’s house, pump house, UV treatment system, two animal troughs, and other complementary facilities designed to support efficient water distribution and management.
The project forms part of the broader Barwaaqo Project, which is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Jubaland. The initiative aims to strengthen water access, improve livelihoods, and enhance resilience among communities across Jubaland.
Local residents welcomed the completion of the project, describing it as a key development that will help address water challenges in the area and contribute to improved living conditions for both people and livestock.
