The Jubaland Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education, Abdinaasir Seraar Maax, has officially launched the “Rajo Kaaba” (Hope Builder) Project, a transformative initiative designed to empower 7,000 girls and young women through access to basic non-formal education and practical vocational skills.
The project aims to enhance participants’ ability to manage their daily lives while significantly improving their opportunities for employment, income generation, and economic self-reliance.
Key components of the program include literacy and numeracy, life and social skills, and advanced vocational training tailored to local needs.
Implemented jointly by ALIGHT and the Jubaland Ministry of Education, the Minister highlighted that the project has already delivered substantial academic support, including 500 diploma-level scholarships for girls and 34 scholarships at the master’s degree level.
Minister Abdinaasir Seraar emphasized that the “Rajo Kaaba” Project is a core part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to support and uplift women, ensuring equal access to education, employment, and leadership opportunities across Jubaland.
The project will be implemented in six districts, covering three districts in Lower Juba Region and three districts in Gedo Region, expanding educational access to underserved communities.
The Minister expressed his sincere appreciation to the staff of the Jubaland Ministry of Education and ALIGHT, commending their dedication to advancing and improving the quality of education for the Somali people, in line with the country’s cultural values and Islamic principles.
The launch ceremony was attended by cabinet ministers, members of parliament, traditional leaders, regional and district administrators, and women’s organizations from across Jubaland, reflecting strong collective support for the initiative and its goals.
