Jubbaland Darawish Forces, working in close coordination with the elite Danab Commandos of the Somali National Army (SNA), have carried out a series of successful security operations in parts of Lower and Middle Juba, security officials said.
The joint operations targeted areas surrounding the districts of Jilib, Hagar, and Afmadow, long considered strongholds of the Al-Shabaab Khawarij militants. The ground assaults were reinforced by precision airstrikes conducted by international partners, delivering a decisive blow to the militant group.
According to military sources, the operation resulted in the neutralization of several key militant figures, significantly degrading the group’s operational capacity in the region.
During the raids, the joint forces seized a cache of weapons, including BKM machine guns, RPG launchers, AK‑47 rifles, and landmines, underscoring the scale of the militants’ weapon stockpiles.
Authorities described the operation as part of an ongoing campaign to dismantle extremist networks and restore lasting security across southern Somalia.
