
A high‑level delegation led by the Director General of the Jubaland Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Saacid Abdullahi, arrived today in Dhobley district for an official inspection mission. The delegation included the Director of the Aviation Department and engineers from the World Food Programme (WFP).
The purpose of the visit was to conduct an on‑site assessment and evaluation of Dhobley airstrip, which is scheduled for major reconstruction and modernization in the coming period.
During their stay, the team carried out a detailed assessment of the airstrip’s current condition, reviewing key infrastructure needs and identifying priority areas for redevelopment.
The reconstruction and rehabilitation project for Dhobley airstrip will be implemented by WFP, with funding provided by the World Bank. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve economic infrastructure and expand essential public services across the region.
Speaking during the visit, the Director General of the Jubbaland Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Saacid Abdullahi, emphasized that the airpstrip’s redevelopment will play a significant role in boosting local commerce, facilitating the movement of people and goods, and enhancing security and overall development in Dhobleey district.
