
The Minister of Interior of the Jubaland State Government today welcomed the Parliamentary Committee on Internal Affairs and Security to his office, as part of the committee’s oversight mission to assess the ministry’s ongoing operations.
Accompanied by senior officials from the ministry, the Minister briefed the committee on the active efforts to establish local councils across the region. He highlighted that foundational work has already commenced in three key districts: Afmadow, Ceelwaaq, and Dhoobley. Preliminary consultative meetings are currently underway in Kismayo to lay the groundwork for the governance structures in these districts.
The committee expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the detailed briefing, commending the ministry’s commitment to strengthening local governance. Both parties agreed to collaborate closely to ensure the successful implementation of the district council formation plans.
