An emergency meeting convened today by key members of the Jubaland Cabinet has raised serious concerns over alarming weather forecasts predicting torrential rains, flash floods, and powerful winds across parts of the region—particularly in Badhaadhe district, Lower Jubba.
The meeting was chaired by the Jubaland Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hon. Abdirahman Mohamed Mahmoud, who delivered a comprehensive briefing on the potential dangers posed by the upcoming weather conditions.
“The forecasts indicate a high likelihood of severe flooding and destructive winds. We must act swiftly,” said Minister Mahmoud. “Government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and local communities must coordinate closely and prepare an urgent response plan to mitigate the expected impact.”
He urged all stakeholders—including civil society groups and residents—to remain vigilant and closely monitor official weather updates. The Jubaland government, he added, is mobilizing rapid response teams to minimize potential damage and ensure timely assistance to affected areas.
Minister Mahmoud also emphasized the need for heightened caution among coastal communities, especially in Badhaadhe, advising residents to avoid flood-prone zones and take preventive measures.
In conclusion, the Minister reaffirmed Jubaland’s commitment to working hand-in-hand with both international and local aid organizations to deliver emergency support and resources to areas most vulnerable to the anticipated heavy rains and flooding.
