In a major step toward improving rural livelihoods, Jubbaland’s Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Hon. Geelle Mohamed Adan, alongside the Minister of Livestock, Forestry and Range, the Minister of Public Works, and the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, conducted a joint field visit today to Buulo-Bartire, a northern settlement in the outskirts of Kismayo town.
The visit aimed to inspect the progress of a vital irrigation project underway near the Jubba River, which flows close to the area. The initiative involves channelling water from the Jubba river to the northwestern parts of Buulo-Bartire, enabling communities in northern Kismayo to benefit from sustainable access to water.
Engineers briefed the delegation on the technical aspects and current status of the project, which is expected to significantly transform the lives of recently resettled families in the region.
Jointly implemented by the Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock, the project is poised to enhance food security and economic resilience by supporting farming and pastoral activities.
This development reflects Jubbaland’s dual commitment to fighting insecurity while simultaneously investing in infrastructure and community development.
