The President of the Jubbaland, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has inaugurated the Blue Economy Investment Conference and Exhibition in Kismayo, Jubbaland state of Somalia.
The 2-day investment conference which was organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy was attended by Jubbaland Government officials, Kenya chamber of commerce and industry officials and both local and international NGOs.
The investment conference focused on investment opportunities in Jubaland’s marine resources and blue economy.
The investment conference was to strengthen and fully exploit the marine resources in Jubbaland so as to boost the economy of the region. The conference showcased the various marine resources for potential investment and how it will be of beneficial to investors.
Investment in the Blue Economy includes several key areas such as fisheries, marine energy, coastal tourismand environmental protection.
The Jubbaland President has underscored the critical importance of cooperation between the government, private institutions and businesses to develop the blue economy and protect the coastal environment of Jubbaland state of Somalia.
