The governors of Hiiraan State and Hirshabelle State have each appointed committees to investigate the people responsible for the recent killings and robberies in Beledweyne town.

With both administrations in the town seeking to bring justice to the perpetrators, residents are apprehensive about potential clashes between security forces loyal to the two sides.

Governor of Hiiraan State Abdi Hiish appointed a six-member committee, while Governor of Hirshabelle Muse Salad appointed a seven-member committee.

In the past few days, at least three people, namely Gedi Nuur Mohamud, Leyla Ibrahim Ali, and Khadar Faysal Naaleye, have been killed in the town as incidents of armed robbery have increased.

The two governors have instructed the investigative committees to take legal and justice-based actions.

The prevailing tension in Beledweyne is exacerbated by the ongoing power struggle between different factions of Hiiraan State and Hirshabelle, which further destabilizes the region and complicates efforts to establish security.
