Interim President of the Hiiraan State administration, Ali Jeyte Osman, has made several appointments to his newly formed administration. Jeyte insisted that Hiiraan would no longer recognize Hirshabelle’s authority.

In a decree issued by President Jeyte on Saturday, Abdiaziz Ahmed Adow, known as Jaburi, was appointed governor of the Hiiraan region. A new region called the Upper Shabelle region was formed, with Abdifatah Farah Adan appointed as its governor.

President Jeyte has also named Suleiman Geddi Ibrahim as the Dervish army commander for the Hiiraan State administration. Abdullahi Mohamed Farah Biriq has been appointed as the deputy commander of the Dervish army, and Afrah Ali Hassan Afrah Yare will serve as the logistics commander.

Furthermore, Mohamud Mohamed Sahane has been appointed as the Spokesman of the Hiiraan state administration.

The Hirshabelle administration has not provided any comment on these appointments. It is worth noting that the recently-sacked governor of the Hiiraan region, reportedly elected as the interim President of the Hiiraan State administration, remains controversial.

Members of the Hawadle community within Somalia’s Hirshabelle administration have strongly expressed their opposition to the removal of Ali Jeyte Osman, the former governor of the Hiiraan region. The decision, orchestrated by Hirshabelle President Ali Gudlawe Hussein, has escalated tensions locally and prompted severe criticism from Hawadle clan members, who believe the decision was abrupt and ill-advised.

In response to these developments, the Hawadle community issued a strong message to President Ali Gudlawe Hussein: “If you don’t want us, we don’t want you.”
