Somalia President Hassan Sheikh among dignitaries in Nairobi for Ruto’s inauguration ceremony

Somalia President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Nairobi for Kenyan President-elect William Ruto’s inauguration ceremony on Monday evening.

President Hassan Mohamud was met at the airport by former Majority Leader of the National Assembly, Aden Duale, and other Kenyan officials.

The dignitaries include Felix Tshisekedi (Democratic Republic of Congo), Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Salva Kiir (South Sudan), Evariste Ndayishimiye (Burundi), Samia Suluhu Hassan (Tanzania), and Yoweri Museveni (Uganda).

At least 20 Heads of State. 2,500 dignitaries and 60,000 people are expected to attend today’s inauguration at the Kasarani International sports centre which is was filled to capacity as early as 6am today, according to organizers.

Ruto defeated former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the August 9 elections to be named Kenya’s next President. Odinga challenged Ruto’s victory in the Kenyan Supreme Court, but the court upheld the declared result of Kenya’s electoral commission.
