Food Aid delivered to drought displaced people in Luglow

The Jubbaland Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, in collaboration with the King Salmaan Foundation, has today reached out to drought-affected people in the northern part of Kismayo with food aid intervention.

About 10,000 families have been provided with food assistance, according to Jubbaland Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Abdirahman Abdi Ahmed.

Food delivered to the drought-displaced people included an assortment of flour, rice, sugar, oil and spaghetti.

This is the second intervention that drought-displaced IDPs in Kismayo have received significant official assistance, having previously received similar food rations in December by the Jubbaland state, particularly Jubbaland State President Ahmed Mohamed Islam.

Drought in Jubbaland state has severely affected pastoralists and farmers in various parts of Jubbaland.

Five people have died of hunger and thirst in Gedo, according to the Gedo district commissioner, Ibrahim Adan Guled,

The drought has resulted in malnutrition among children and the elderly. 79 malnourished children have been admitted at the Kismayo General Hospital in recent weeks.
